Welcome to Book Marketing Buzz, Jessamine.  Can we begin by having you tell us a little about your book?

My book was born when I was the age of 6.  It’s about an incredible journey of a young girls rise above it all –all the way to the very top.  Mom and dad abandoned me. I had 5 brothers and sister none old enough to take care of each other.   We were own our own. I raised my self.  From that time on, I was mostly on my own. I witness murder, starvation, and sexual abuse. Until I run a way from Eastern Kentucky at the age of 13.

What is the first thing you did to promote your book once your publisher accepted your manuscript?

I emailed every one I knew, with excitement in my voice said “I did it, I did the impossible at the age of 73 I’m a author. if you wont to buy my book go to my web sight and order one, its also in book stores. Then I was invited to have a book signing at, CREEKSIDE SENIOR APARTMENTS in Nicholasville, Ky.

If you had to pick just one book marketing tool that you’ve used to promote your book, which would you say has been the most effective?

Word of mouth. Friends tell friends.

Do you do more promoting online or offline and which do you prefer?

Both work for me. I prefer online.

Do you use social networks such as Twitter and Facebook to promote your books and have you had any success with it?

I have use Facebook it has helped.

Do you own a blog and how often do you update it?  Did you set up your blog solely to promote your book and what is its effectiveness?

I don’t have a blog, just a website.

Do you recommend authors getting publicists to help them promote their books?  Do you have one?

Yes, I have Rebecca my Virtual Book Tour Coordinator with Pump Up Your Book. I think it’s going to make a world of difference.

If an author prefers to do it alone rather than hire a publicist, where should they  start?

With everyone you know.

Thank you for coming, Jessamine!  We wish you much success!
