Welcome to Book Marketing Buzz, Doug and Jackie. Can we begin by having you tell us a little about your book?
Jackie: Luv-Pons is a FUN, VARIETY LOVE AND ROMANCE GUIDE for couples wanting to regain the intimacy they once shared in their relationship or marriage, Luv-Pons has something to offer everyone! we share recipes, love stories, poetry, games couples can play with each other, we also share great tips and ideas, couples can enjoy as well as there are over 40 pages of Luv-Pons ( coupons) in the back of the book to enjoy giving to your mate!
What is the first thing you did to promote your book once your publisher accepted your manuscript?
Doug & Jackie: The first thing we done was to create our book web site and begin to tell everyone we knew about our new book:) then we went and created the marketing materials to mail out and hand out.
If you had to pick just one book marketing tool that you’ve used to promote your book, which would you say has been the most effective?
Doug: I would have to say the Internet and word of mouth, we feel that if a author writes a good book one that helps people then they will feel it when they read it and will tell others about it:)
Do you do more promoting online or offline and which do you prefer?
Doug & Jackie: We do both because it’s a good feeling to get peoples responses when your promoting offline and can actually see them when you share your book and engage in conversation about the book.
Do you use social networks such as Twitter and Facebook to promote your books and have you had any success with it?
Doug & Jackie: We do sometimes. We are going to use these social networking sites more in the future for sure.
Do you own a blog and how often do you update it? Did you set up your blog solely to promote your book and what is its effectiveness?
Doug & Jackie: No, but we are planning to get one asap.
Do you recommend authors getting publicists to help them promote their books? Do you have one?
Doug & Jackie: We do if they can afford one. It is highly recommended because it not only helps with getting the word out about the book, it also helps with getting the author more known by the public and people will then tend to follow the author more and therefore knowing about their book or books in the future.
If an author prefers to do it alone rather than hire a publicist, where should they start?
Jackie: I would start by getting a website. Doesn’t have to be a fancy one but it will offer a hub for the author. A place to store all of his book info so the public can find out more information, then I would recommend putting out a free press release and mailing out marketing materials.
Thank you for this interview, Doug and Jackie! We wish you much success!
Doug & Jackie: Thank you. We really appreciate you having us and for more information about our book, please go to www.luv-pons.com.
