Building Blog Buzz
Posted by pumpupyourbookpromotion on January 9, 2009
Great post on Angela Wilson’s blog yesterday about building blog buzz. One of her readers asked her how to get more people over to her blog even though she had done everything she could think of to do.
A common dilemma. All of us want as many people to visit our blog as we can and those who leave comments, may the God of Prosperity land on your shoulders and give you everything you want.
Angela gave her some suggestions:
I had a difficult time finding the link on your blog. I kept looking for it in the left navigation buttons. Consider making the link more prominent. Perhaps create one page and link to it with a button that lists all of your social media sites.
That was my problem. I don’t know where it was either. It’s like book buying links when you get to someone’s website or blog that you are interested in, only to see that’s one thing they neglected. Don’t even let me start on not finding a book cover on the first page. I get shivers thinking about it.
I love this idea Angela suggested:
Approach authors on your blogroll about guest blogging. This will open you up to new audiences and drive traffic to your site.
I left a comment on the blog going into more detail but guest blogging is an excellent way to bring in traffic as long as you choose your guest bloggers wisely. By this I mean, find out if they have a following and also whether they are out there promoting their “appearances” on social networks and e-groups. They are worth their weight in gold.
This is a good one…
Publicize your blog during virtual book tours and in forums and groups.
Nine times out of ten, the blog host will include that information if you or your tour coordinator has sent it over with your guest post (I do everytime). Authors need to remember that when writing their bios, if they leave any important information out like website url or blog url, that won’t get mentioned, so it’s up to the individual author to go over their bio several times to make sure they don’t leave anything out. It’s annoying to have to email the blog host and say, “Oops, I forgot something…will you add it for me?” Usually they’re pretty good about it but you don’t see the behind the scene actions.
Angela has lots of more other ideas to bring traffic to your blog, so if you want to stop by and find out how you, too, can create more life to your blog, visit her blog at Market My Novel!
