Two Offbeat Places to Promote Your Travel Book Online

Posted by pumpupyourbookpromotion on August 10, 2008

Something just occurred to me while surfing this morning. I might live on the water, but no, not water surfing, INTERNET SURFING. You guys need another cup of coffee, so wake up and pay close attention because it was an idea I had for authors who write travel books that I believe is pretty darn good.

Even if you don’t have a travel book per say, but if you have a book where your characters are doing a little bit of traveling anyway, you can surely take advantage of this, and it’s all FREE. I love that word FREE. FREE FREE FREE.

Well, like I was saying, I was doing a little bit of surfing, trying to wake myself up to begin my long day (no, I don’t rest on the weekend!), and I came upon two websites that let you blog about your traveling experiences. But hey you’re thinking…so big deal, I can do that on my own blog, right?

Well, one of them gets 45,000 unique visitors last month month and the other one gets 338,000 visitors last month and I thought it would be pretty darn useful to check into.

The first one is called 43 Places and you can find it here. 43 Places is a social network where you can share your stories about places you have traveled. Make friends…comment on other stories…network!

Travel Blog is a little bit spiffier and more polished. It also gets almost 300,000 more hits so it’s definitely worth checking out. Quoted from their website:

Travel Blog is a unique free online travel diary for travellers across the world. It works from internet cafes and computers world wide, to allow you to update an online travel diary, it is free to join and takes just minutes to setup, all you need is a working email address. You can contact us here if you have business or press questions – or use the Travel Forum for travelblog user support, travel questions, or just introducing yourself. For advertising information please visit our advertising page

TravelBlog.org is one of the most popular travel related web 2.0 sites on the internet – see alexa or quantcast for more information.
TravelBlog.org has over 80,000 members and grows at around 100 new members a day.
TravelBlog.org hosts over 2 million photos
TravelBlog.org hosts over 30,000 maps
TravelBlog.org hosts over 300,000 blog entries.

Even if you don’t have a travel book or a book period, it’s fun to log your travel experiences so give it a shot. I am as soon as I can. And, guess what, if you think it’s a total waste of time since you have nothing to promote, think again. Anyone who is out there blogging at all can use the extra links in the search engines and that’s what online book (or blog, author, writer, Indian Chief) promotion is all about.
