Would you like free books?
Posted by pumpupyourbookpromotion on January 24, 2008
As part of my unwinding process during the day and to distance myself from coordinating tours for awhile, I spend it in google alerts. If you haven’t discovered google alerts, you’ve been living under a rock because it’s one of my most loved tools for “checking up” on different things I put in there. I have a special box set up just for google alerts and when you see me heading over there, you know I’m on a brain break and I may be there for awhile.
Tonight, one such google alert came in and I knew I had to blog about this. It was a reviewer blog called The Written Word – a very attractive blog with a full set of archives, not to mention people commenting. A virtual book tour coordinator’s dream.
Aside from the wonderful qualities this blog had, it also had a recent blog post about something I thought was rather cute. I felt like I was eavesdropping, but the blogger was talking about ways she got books to review – publishers, publicists, etc. You can read what she had to say about it here.
It was sort of like how we get clients. Publicists and publishers find our company in google, much like they find her. And how many used google alerts to do this? You’d be surprised.
Reviewers make up about 1/3 of our stops so I’m always on the lookout for them. Already we have great review blogs – J. Kaye’s Book Blog, Virtual Wordsmith gives us reviews AND interviews, Families.com (again review and interview) to name a few…I know I’m leaving out a lot but without those them, I feel a tour wouldn’t be complete.
As a matter of fact, we just signed up a new reviewer today – UponFurtherReview.org. A wonderful reviewer who was ecstatic to be getting free books as reading was one of her pleasures.
And we’re always on the lookout for more because I can see these poor reviewers doing nothing but reading for the next decade and that’s just from what we’ve been sending them.
If you are reviewer and you have a blog with a good amount of traffic, there’s a graphic to the top right that says “Would you like to be a blog host?” Click on it. Contact us. It’s a great way to get some good reading material and totally free. ;o)

Hi! I followed a link via J. Kaye’s blog to this post, and I’m definitely interested. Unfortunately, the three graphics to the top right aren’t showing up for me, and when I just click on them, the two to the far right (which I’m assuming are the relevent ones, since their addresses are about virtual book tours and tour hosts), don’t appear. Since I couldn’t find an e-mail address on the about page, I thought I’d leave a comment here letting you know. :)
One question-what’s a good amount of traffic? And my e-mail address is astripedarmchair AT gmail DOT com, and just in case my name doesn’t link through to my blog, that’s http://astripedarmchair.wordpress.com

I also got here through a link at J. Kaye’s blog. Being in Germany I simply assume it’d be difficult for me to help you review (pity, though!), but I think it is great you offer this!
Still, I blog some reviews for the non-Harlequin-style books at my blog and enjoy it a lot :)

I would be interesting in receiving books to review. If I like the book/author, I would be interested in conducting interviews and hosting tours. My book blog is blogginboutbooks.blogspot.com. If you want to reach me via email, the address is: blogginboutbooks(AT)gmail(DOT)com. BTW: I also found you through J. Kaye’s blog – she should get some extra books or something for spreading the word :)

Your tour idea is a great concept. Would love to be a stop, but my TBR pile is topping as it is though! :) Good luck with the project.

I also found out about your website through J.Kaye. I would love to be a book reviewer. I read all kinds of books even though I have my favorite genre chick lit/romance. Also I am a preschool teacher so if any children’s book need to be reviewed I could do that as well.
I am new to blogging, so my blog is growing and changing as I do. I blog about books because I enjoy them. My blog is http://readingmama.blogspot.com
I hope to here from you soon.
